We always thought that peanut puffs, or flips as we call them in Germany, are an original American product. But then we found out that they actually are not American and often not available in the States, so we put them in one of the Candy German subscription boxes in 2017 for the first time. Many of you emailed us and said thanks, because they knew peanut puffs from their Germany holidays, but weren’t able to get them in their country. So for us it was very clear that we will send you peanut puffs again this summer. Funny-Frisch is a very traditional German brand by the German snack producer Intersnack. Their flippies come in a huge and heavy bag (250 gram), and they are delicious. If you like peanuts you will love the peanut flips. They have a very intense peanut flavor, the puffed flips are very crunchy, and you have to eat them one after another. It’s pure indulgence!
Maoam yay! One of my all time favorite German sweets! Many don’t know that the producer of this chewy candy is Haribo, but it is. What can I say about Maoam?! When I have to mention five German candies I eat since my childhood, Maoam is definitely one of those. I guess, in Germany does not even one kid exist that has never eaten Maoam. There are five small packages included in the foil, each one contains individually packed little fruity chewing candies. The Maoam Bloxx Drinxx is a special variation of the original Maoam which original came in the flavors lemon, orange, strawberry, cherry, and raspberry. As the name suggests, the flavors you got are in the style of drinks: Peach Ice Tea, Cherry Coke, Purple Coke and rhubarb lemonade will satisfy your sweet tooth. I love the Maoam Drinxx mix. The flavors are really refreshing and the perfect treat for the summer.
I know, many people don’t like licorice very much, but trust me, the Sallos drops are awesome, they are definitely my favorite German licorice candy. Those of you, who are subscribed to Candy German for a long time now, had the chance to try Sallos before. In August 2014 they came in your monthly candy subscription box for the first time. We were not sure what the resonance on this treat will be, but in the end it turned out that it was extremely positive and that we turned some licorice haters into licorice fans. I agree. I always have some of the individually packed Sallos drops in my handbag. They have a very full, but not too intense, licorice flavor which I love. At the same time they have a very fresh flavor. The sweetness of the goodies balances and harmonizes the licorice flavor. I could go into raptures – try this German candy and you will love it too.
Bunte Drachenzungen means colorful dragon tongues. Noone has even seen a dragon or a dragon tongue, right? So we have to trust the German candy company Hitschler that dragon tongues look like this. For me that’s pretty okay. Hitschler’s dragon tongues are wine gum stripes. They come in the flavors peach, cherry, strawberry, and apple. They are all sprinkled with a sour and sweet sugary powder. It’s really an experience to eat this German candy. First you taste the sourness that is followed by a sweet fruity flavor. The best thing is that the Bunte Drachenzungen are without artificial dyes and only with natural flavors. Your kids will love this candy from Germany! By the way, it’s suitable for vegans.
A milk coffee cream is put between several layers of wafers. That sounds very simple, actually it is, but this German treat tastes very exquisite and unique. The wafers are very crunchy and the cream is delicious. If you like coffee and milk, you will love this treat in your Candy German subscription box. Enjoy it with a cup of coffee or as a snack in between.
Peanut meets candy. The German candy manufacture hosta was founded in 1949. In 1955 the Mr. Tom Peanut bar was introduced to the market. Since then it is known as "der etwas andere Riegel = the slightly different bar". Mr. Tom is kind of a counter-program to chocolate bars. It’s a very simple bar – roasted peanuts are covered in caramel. It is extremely crunchy and yummy!
Leibniz is a popular brand by the German biscuit producer Bahlsen. The Leibniz Butter Keks is their most famous cookie. It was invented in 1891 by Hermann Bahlsen. The commercial slogan for this cookie is and always was “nur echt mit 52 Zähnen = only real with 52 teeth”. The teeth are the little notches you can see around the cookie. When you taste the cookie you will immediately notice a fine butter flavor. It is very crunchy and not dry, as you could think by just looking at it. I love Leibniz Butter Keks!
The German company Eckes that is located in Nieder-Olm in Germany was founded in 1857. Back then it was a producer of spirituous beverages. Since 1930 they produce fruit juices, 1994 they bought the brand granini that is known for its premium fruit juices. Today the company’s name is Eckes-Granini, every child in Germany knows granini juice. For many years they also produce candy like the apple drops we put in your monthly candy subscription box. The drops or bonbons are filled with a fruity liquid and they are high in vitamin C. Yummy!
