These "potatoes" consist of marzipan. Especially before and during the holiday season we eat a lot of marzipan in Germany. The marzipan potatoes are the most minimalistic way to offer marzipan as a candy. The almond paste is simply formed as a potato, and sprinkled with cocoa from the outside, so that it resembles the peel of a real potato in appearance. The cocoa used is UTZ certified that means that the cocoa was sustainable cultivated. The German company Zentis, that is located in the German city Aachen since 1893, is originally known as a jam producer. After the Second World War fine confectionary products like chocolate and marzipan complemented their assortment.
Speku is the short form for Spekulatius. Spekulatius are a type of very crunchy shortcrust biscuits. They are very thin because the dough does not rise much. Usually the biscuits are spiced and buttery. So are the Coppenrath Speku-Duett. What the famous German pastry company did is put a hazelnut cream in between two Spekulatius biscuits. This treat is so so good and the perfect treat for Christmas. The hazelnut cream is so yummy, it is very rich and has an intense hazelnut flavor. The cream is added by cinnamon, it spreads Christmas atmosphere. By the way, your package is resealable, so your biscuits stay fresh, if you don’t want to eat them all at once.
Here comes a very delicious German Christmas treat which found its way into the Candy German box the second time. Either you got the sort Praliné or Knusper Nugat = Crunchy Nougat or Caramel or Mandel = almond or Noisette. All the sorts are so mouth-watering, every sort has its own filling which is surrounded by fine milk chocolate. Let the chocolate goodies melt in your mouth, you will love them.
Last month you got Aachener Printen too in your German candy subscription box. You cannot eat enough Printen during holiday season, so we decided to send another sort – honey Printen this time. You can compare them with a honey bread, spiced bread or gingerbread. The Printen are very soft and coated with dark chocolate.
I love nougat – especially when it is very pure, soft and melts in your mouth. So is and does this Candy from Germany. Feinster Edel Nougat means finest noble nougat and you can really taste how fine and noble it is. Can’t get enough of it!
A chocolate Santa – always a good choice for Christmas, isn’t it? This one is very big, it contains 150 grams of finest milk chocolate. The producer is the German candy company Riegelein Confiserie. It stands for high quality Christmas chocolates. Enjoy your delicious Santa, the chocolate will melt in your mouth. By the way, it is produced of Fairtrade chocolate, you can read this on the back of your Santa.
