A new year started. This also means a new Candy German year started – yay! This month’s box is very chocolaty again, because we know that you like German chocolates the most. Some products and brands may be familiar to you, some may be new. What all treats in this month’s Candy German subscription box have in common is, that they are extraordinarily delicious – each treat is individual and a real taste experience.
Katjes… jes jes jes – you can read this on your Katjes bag, it’s the official jingle of this German candy brand. I eat Katjes gums since I was a little kid, but believe me, these Jogger products are the best Katjes gums I have ever eaten – luckily we found them recently, so you get the chance to taste them. Either you got the Jogger Gums or the Jogger Lakritz. The Jogger Gums are the fruity version of this German candy. The little shoes come in the flavors raspberry, lemon, orange, redcurrant, and – my favorite flavor which gives the whole bag the most adorable smell – apple cinnamon. All of the shoes are very fruity and chewy. The Jogger Lakritz have a top consisting of licorice and a shoe sole which comes in the flavors chocolate, banana, or raspberry. The licorice taste is very mild, the additional taste is very dominant – especially when you taste the chocolate and banana shoes… yummy! The consistency of the Jogger Lakritz is a bit harder than the one of the Jogger Gums, but still very chewy. Furthermore your Katjes Jogger (both sorts) are vegetarian, because they don’t include animal gelatine. They only contain natural color, and 20% dextrose. Thumbs up Katjes!
Do you like chocolate with chili? Perhaps you are afraid that this bar is too hot, but the chili note is very decent. The first bite I took, I did hardly taste the chili, after I chewed for a while I noticed it and really liked it. The dark chocolate is very smooth and creamy. It contains at least 52% UTZ certified cocoa. The Berlin-based company Moser Roth only uses sustainably cultivated cocoa for their products. Generally this German chocolate company is very liked when it comes to quality chocolate bars. Moser Roth is a protected brand since 1902 – the time had come that we introduced it to you. The package of the chili chocolate is so beautiful, it looks really noble. There are five individually wrapped chocolate bars in the package. I love the taste of the product and the well designed overall experience. Enjoy your noble gourmet taste!
Schogetten is a product of the German candy manufacturer Ludwig Schokolade, one of Europe's most successful confectionary suppliers. 1962 the Schogetten were introduced. Today there are many different sorts, you received some of them before in your Candy German subscription box. This month you either got Schogetten Black & White, or Cappuccino, or almond brittle. What I like the most about Schogetten is that it is not a chocolate bar as we know it from other brands, the package is filled with small bite-sized chunks. Every chunk is filled. The black and white chunks have a cookie and cream filling. There are little crunchy cookie pieces in the white cream filling – so good. The Cappuccino chunks have a very tasty cream coffee filling. If you like coffee, you will love this Schogetten sort. The almond brittle chunks have a cream filling containing crunchy brittle. I love the almond flavor. No matter which sort you got in your monthly candy subscription box, all three of them are extraordinarily good. The smooth Schogetten milk chocolate in combination with each of the fillings just tastes like heaven.
This German candy is the perfect combination of three ingredients: a cookie, caramel cream, and white chocolate. Sounds great, doesn’t it? When I first tried these cookies I expected a crunchy cookie in the middle, but actually it is more like a short pastry biscuit, not crunchy but cake-like. I was not disappointed, but positively surprised, because I really enjoyed this consistency – especially in combination with the butter caramel filling which is very soft and gooey. The white chocolate is the perfect addition to this treat. It is very creamy and tasteful. Grab a cup of coffee and enjoy your Schoko Karamel Taler = chocolate caramel thalers. There are 12 thalers in your package.
Those of you who are familiar to German – especially Cologne – culture know that carnival is about to begin. During the carnival week – this year February 23rd until 29th – everyone shouts Kölle Alaaf! In the streets. It’s the typical greeting during the fest. There are huge parades, everyone is costumed, and candy is thrown into the crowd. Your Kölle Alaaf bar is meant to be one of these hand-outs. So we were lucky to get an original carnival product for you. It is a puffed rice milk chocolate bar – very tasty and crunchy. I also love the wrapping of the bar. Red and white are Cologne’s colors. You can also see a caricature of Cologne’s skyline on the foil. Every famous building of Cologne has a face and a big red nose – so funny!
Ritter Sport bars are a all time favorite in your Candy German subscription box. We constantly receive emails from you asking for more Ritter Sport. Fortunately, there are so many different sorts, we never had to put one sort in your box for the second time. This month you get Keks + Nuss = cookie + nut. The Ritter Sport milk chocolate is delicious as always – it melts in your mouth, you can taste the quality. There are small crunchy cookie balls in the chocolate and pieces of hazelnuts. I really like the texture of this bar – it is much more crispy than I had expected. Once again, you can see how a Ritter Sport bar is opened correctly in this old commercial
Another all time favorite candy from Germany is hanuta by the company Ferrero. A hazelnut cocoa cream is sandwiched between to layers of wavers. There are little crunchy hazelnut pieces in the delicious cream. There are two hanutas in your package. They are the perfect snack when you are out and about.
That’s it… your first 2017 monthly candy from Germany. Do you like it? Feel free to give us your feedback via email@example.com.
